This is my all-time favourite breakfast smoothie. I have this at least four days a week and I can’t believe I haven’t shared it with you yet! It’s such a great way to start the day and doesn’t take more than five minutes to make. I love the hassle free vibe that comes along with breakfast. I have a few different things that I rotate between and then on weekends I might spend a little more time making something special like waffles or pancakes. This smoothie sets you up for the day perfectly. I never get bored of it as it’s just so delicious and makes you feel great.
Morning is such an important time; it’s an opportunity to start your day off in a healthy manner. There is so much information being published about the importance of a morning practice of gratitude, affirmations and a positive mind set in general. I support this 100% and it also extends to the choices you make about what food you choose to nourish yourself. When we feel positive and happy about ourselves generally we make healthier choices.
I spent last weekend at Tri Yoga with Tiffany Cruikshank who was in London to facilitate some workshops for yoga teachers. I was inspired by her vast knowledge but also by her enthusiasm towards educating people to live a life where they feel vibrant and energised in their bodies. This week I’ve been getting up a little bit earlier to ensure that I move my body and take some time to be silent and meditate. Although most days I do manage to fit this into my schedule I want to start ensuring it is a part of my morning routine. It sets you up for the day and even after 10 minutes of yoga I can start to feel a shift in my physical body and also my mind-set.
I created this smoothie with the goal of it keeping you full until lunch. I added oats and almond butter to give it a little more substance and protein. Sometimes I need a mid-morning snack if I’ve been doing a lot of exercise but mostly it does a great job of keeping me nourished and satisfied. I added spinach which you can’t taste at all but gives an extra boost of nutrients to your body. Whether you’re looking to start creating a healthier morning routine or you’re just after a new breakfast option, I think you’ll love this recipe. Hopefully it will help you to make healthy choices throughout the day. Be happy. Be healthy. Be love xx
